If you've ever wondered what it takes to write video games like World of Warcraft, websites like Facebook, or apps like Angry Birds, the short answer is ... a lot. A lot of technical know-how, a lot of time, and possibly even a lot of developers, designers, managers, producers, and more. But, everybody's got to start somewhere, right?

The good news for aspiring programmers is that there are open source tools that can at least put you on the path, head you in the right direction, and get you going without spending a cent.

In Beginning Open Source Development with Python, we explore the tools you'll need to get started and some resources for learning how to program. From there, you're only limited by your own imagination and dedication!
